UNILORIN promotes 13 academics to professorial rank

The latest development adds to a series of academic promotions recorded by the institution in recent years.

In February 2025, the university’s Governing Council approved the promotion of 51 academic staff members to the ranks of Professor and Reader across various faculties.

Of the 51 academics, 20 Senior Lecturers were elevated to the rank of Professor, while 31 academics were promoted from Senior Lecturer to Reader.

The 2025 promotions followed recommendations from the University’s Appointments and Promotions Committee, which were presented to the Governing Council by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, at its meeting on January 27, 2025.

The university had also announced the promotion of 40 senior academics to the rank of Professor in 2024. The elevations followed recommendations by the University Appointments and Promotions Committee and were approved by the then Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN.
