UCLA turning to Troy Aikman to help poach 4-star Ohio State QB recruit

· · 2 min read

The UCLA Bruins currently have the No. 9-Ranked recruiting class in the country, but they could make a big jump if they’re able to land their latest target.

UCLA is hot on the trail of four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds — the only problem is Edmunds is already committed to Ohio State.

But the school is reportedly busting out the big guns in trying to land the 6-foot-5, 220-pound signal-caller, turning to Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman to help convince Edmunds to flip his commitment.

Last week, Aikman, who starred for the Bruins for two seasons, passing for 4,953 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions en route to winning the Davey O’Brien award (1988) and the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year (1987), recorded a video in which he gave a solid recruiting pitch to Edmunds, who was in town visiting the Bruins.

“Hey Brady, Troy Aikman here — I wanted to reach out and say I hope you’re having an amazing time there in Westwood this weekend on your visit. Such a great place. I loved my time there at UCLA,” Aikman stated in a video that made its way to social media.

“… You’ve had an amazing career, looking forward to seeing you take it to the next level and hoping that’s going to be at UCLA. [You’ll] be a part of something really special. … Looking forward to shaking your hand in person when you are lighting it up for the UCLA Bruins.”

Edmunds has been committed to the Buckeyes since December 2024, but it appears he may be weighing other options.

The highly sought-after signal-caller recently spoke highly of his visit with UCLA in a recent interview with On3.

“The visit went really, really well,” Edmunds stated. “Whatever expectation I had it definitely surpassed it. I’m still getting through my Ohio State OV and camp. As of now, I don’t know where I’m going.

“UCLA definitely hit the spot. My family really loved it there. It definitely won them over so just trying to navigate from here and we’ll see in the next month-and-a-half or so.”
