After the UCLA Bruins lost dependable pitcher Taylor Tinsley ucla-softball-players-set-193829733.html">to the AUSL this offseason, UCLA quickly filled the need by acquiring former Arizona State pitcher Meika Lauppe in the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Tinsley worked a whopping 235 innings in 2026 for the Bruins, meaning her graduation created a massive hole in the pitcher’s circle for UCLA. Tinsley appeared in 137 games as a Bruin, posting a career 2.50 earned run average.
Lauppe could cover a lot of innings for UCLA, working over 100 innings in back-to-back seasons with the Sun Devils. In 2026, Lauppe had a 3.59 ERA and a 14-4 record in 121 innings pitched. Lauppe’s ERA was lower in 2025, where she sat at 3.31 over 112 innings.
The Bruins quickly snagged an arm in the portal, with the transfer portal opening on Monday. The current opening will last 15 days, closing on Monday, June 22nd. As of Tuesday evening, UCLA has yet to lose any players to the transfer portal.
UCLA’s second-most used pitcher this season was freshman Natalie Cable, with the lefty working 67.2 innings but posting a 6.72 ERA. Behind Cable it was sophomore Brynne Nally, who threw an even 50 innings with a 5.74 ERA.
While the Bruins will be losing a terrific senior class this offseason, their window isn’t shut. UCLA will be returning a ton of offensive talent, with many underclassmen helping the 2026 Bruins team set a Division I team record for single-season home runs.
