U-17 WWCQ: Busari upbeat Flamingos will overcome Benin Republic

Flamingos head coach, Akeem Busari is optimistic his side will secure a berth at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, DAILY POST reports.

Nigeria will battle neighbours Benin Republic for a place in the competition which will be hosted by Morocco later in the year.

The first leg is slated for the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Saturday (today).

Benin Republic will host the reverse fixture at the Stade de Kegue, Lome next weekend.

Busari guided the Flamingos to a 11-0 aggregate victory over Guinea in the previous round.

The former Shooting Stars gaffer is upbeat his team will maintain their impressive run in the qualifiers.

“Everybody really wants to be part of the competition proper, and Nigeria being a consistent contender, it’s going to a tough game,” Busari said ahead of the game.

“I believe they are prepared, and we are prepared as well. The 90 minutes here is going to be very important. I believe we are going to carry the day by God’s grace.”

The winner on aggregate win earns a place at the World Cup.
