Tyrese Haliburton sidelined by injury again after yearlong absence
After returning to the court following a yearlong absence, Tyrese Haliburton will miss time again due to an injury.
The Indiana Pacers will be without their star point guard for at least two weeks because of a mild left hamstring strain, coach Rick Carlisle said Oct. 28 ahead of the team’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Here’s what to know about Haliburton’s latest injury.
Tyrese Haliburton suffers setback after lengthy recovery
The former Iowa State star experienced hamstring discomfort during the Pacers’ 110-102 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 26. During the contest, Haliburton was seen using a heating pad and riding an exercise bike while on the sideline and afterward said he felt “banged up.”
He has missed time due to hamstring issues in the past, including in both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. A hamstring injury suffered in the 2023-24 Eastern Conference Finals cost him the rest of that series, in which the Boston Celtics swept the Pacers.
Haliburton had only recently returned after missing the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from a torn right Achilles suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. He played in the Pacers’ first four games this season, helping Indiana to a 2-2 record while averaging 21.8 points, 9.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Ahead of the regular season, he returned to Hilton Coliseum in Ames for an exhibition game between the Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 7. He told reporters then about the emotional toll of his lengthy recovery and how difficult it had been to spend so much time away from basketball.
“It’s a roller coaster of emotions for me,” Haliburton said. “I’ve had a lot of hard days, but it’s all just part of it and being a human being”
