The New England Patriots released Stefon Diggs in the offseason, and one former Super Bowl champion wants teams to make a push to sign him.

Torrey Smith recently made a post on X saying teams should want to sign a player with 85 catches and over 1,000 yards the previous season in free agency. Although he did not mention Diggs by name, he is the only free agent wide receiver who fits the criteria. Smith played eight seasons in the NFL and won two Super Bowls.

There is a wide receiver that is a free agent that had 85 catches and over a 1000 yards last year.

I’d want him on my team.

Diggs signed a three-year, $63,5 million deal with the Patriots last offseason. He was coming off a torn ACL and was on the wrong side of 30. There were concerns about his ability to produce like an elite receiver as he did in the past, but he proved he still has some good football left in the tank.

He became the Patriots’ No. 1 receiver and was a great target for Drake Maye in his breakout season. The Patriots released him and signed Romeo Doubs. They also traded for A.J. Brown. Diggs proved he can still contribute on a contender, and should be able to find a new team by the time the season starts.
