Two seven-year-old boys die after live wire falls on shop in Ondo

Two seven-year-old boys have died after being electrocuted by a fallen live electric wire in Idanre, Ondo State.

The victims, identified as Oloyede Ayo and Clinton Koleola, were reportedly inside a shop along Apefon Road when the live wire suddenly fell onto the building.

An eyewitness said the incident triggered panic in the area as the boys attempted to flee the shop following the fall of the wire.

According to the eyewitness, the children came into contact with the live wire while trying to escape, resulting in their electrocution and subsequent deaths.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said an investigation had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Abayomi said preliminary findings showed that the live electric wire suddenly fell on the shop and electrocuted the children as they tried to escape.

The police spokesperson sympathised with the families of the deceased, describing the incident as a painful loss.

He assured that the command would conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
