With the college football season starting this weekend, it’s now a chance for many to make their predictions for the College Football Playoff with plenty of the sports top analysts liking Notre Dame’s chances.
The Irish enter the season as a top-5 team, in a great spot to get one of the twelve slots to make the playoff. On Thursday two NBC Sports analysts, Nicole Auerbach and former Ohio State linebacker Joshua Perry made their picks, a complete bracket.
Each of them had Notre Dame being included in the field, as Auerbach had the Irish as the No. 1 seed and Perry had them as his No. 2. A first-round bye for the Blue and Gold sets them up for an extended run, as Auerbach has the Irish defeating the Buckeyes in the quarterfinals, then Oregon in the semifinals and then topping Indiana to win the National Championship.
As for Perry, it was a different route but the same result, with Notre Dame raising the trophy. As the second-seed, he’s got the Irish in a rematch with Miami in the quarterfinals, moving on to face his alma mater, and then taking down Georgia to win the title.
With these predications, you can now add in Auerbach and Perry as major national media figures who have Notre Dame as the eventual national champions. Let’s hope both of them are correct and the Irish end its championship drought that has lasted since 1988.
