Galatasaray have confirmed that Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has successfully undergone surgery after sustaining a knee injury during the club’s UEFA Champions League encounter against VfB Stuttgart.

The Nigerian international picked up a sprain in his left knee following the match, but further medical examinations, including an MRI scan, uncovered a loose fragment in the affected area, making surgery necessary.

In an official statement released on Saturday morning, the Turkish champions disclosed that the procedure was carried out at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by the club’s team doctor, Yener İnce.

The Istanbul-based club added that Osimhen would undergo daily medical evaluations, with his recovery and treatment continuing under the close supervision of the medical department.

Galatasaray also wished the 27-year-old striker a quick recovery, expressing optimism that he would return to the pitch as soon as his condition allows.

Meanwhile, Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik reports that Osimhen is expected to miss Galatasaray’s upcoming league fixtures against Amedspor and Samsunspor.

The publication further estimates that the former African Footballer of the Year could spend approximately three weeks recovering and undergoing rehabilitation.

Should his recovery progress as expected, Osimhen could be available for Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Aston Villa on November 24.

The injury also represents a major concern for Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who would have been counting on the striker’s availability for Nigeria’s forthcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Tanzania.

Osimhen’s absence could therefore pose a selection headache for the Nigerian tactician as he prepares his squad for the crucial international assignment.
