Troops rescue three kidnap victims after terrorist attack in Zamfara

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims after responding to a terrorist attack on a commercial vehicle along the Anka–Gummi road in Zamfara State.

A post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, said the rescue followed a swift response by the troops, who were carrying out routine patrols in Anka Local Government Area when they received information that terrorists had attacked a commercial vehicle along the highway.

According to Makama, the soldiers immediately moved to the area after receiving the alert and engaged the attackers.

The terrorists fled into the surrounding area during the encounter, abandoning their captives.

The troops subsequently rescued the three kidnapped victims and recovered a handheld communication radio reportedly abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

“The rescued victims are currently receiving necessary medical assessment and care before being reunited with their families,” Makama said.

Security forces have also stepped up patrols along the Anka–Gummi corridor to protect motorists, secure the major transport route and prevent criminal elements from operating freely in the area.
