Troops kill over 21 Boko Haram, ISWAP terrorists, destroy camp in Adamawa
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team, have killed more than 21 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during a major offensive in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Capt. Mohammed Goni.
The statement said the joint force comprised the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State.
The operation, conducted in the Kopre Mountain general area on Thursday, August 27, 2026, followed credible intelligence on the activities of the terrorists in the area.
Goni said the troops conducted a stealth operation through the difficult terrain before launching a precision attack on the terrorists’ camp in the early hours of the day.
According to him, “the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters, resulting in the death of over 21 terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
“Following the operation, the troops took control of the area, dismantled the terrorist camp and destroyed its logistics infrastructure, further weakening the group’s ability to operate in the area.”
The military spokesman said several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), believed to have been used for terrorist logistics and mobility, were also destroyed during the operation.
He added that troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition from the location.
He noted that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to locate and rescue victims held by terrorist elements, including persons abducted from Mussa community in May and schoolchildren abducted from Lassa in June 2026.
Goni said the successful offensive demonstrated the ability of the joint forces to operate effectively in difficult terrain while disrupting terrorist strongholds and denying them freedom of movement.
He commended the troops and the ONSA Tactical Team for their gallantry, professionalism and coordination during the operation.
He assured residents that Operation HADIN KAI would sustain intelligence-driven operations across the North-East until abducted persons are located and rescued, while efforts continue to restore lasting peace and security in the region.
