Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled a suspected terrorist ambush along the Gusau–Sokoto Major Supply Route, MSR, in Zamfara State.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in his post on X on Thursday, explained that security sources said the incident occurred at about 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October. 27, 2026, when troops of 1 Brigade, while escorting personnel of Headquarters 38 Artillery Brigade, came under attack at Mayanchi village in Maru Local Government Area.
According to him, “The troops reportedly engaged the suspected terrorists, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.”
He added that following the engagement, the soldiers exploited the area and recovered a motorcycle believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing attackers.
Makama stated that the recovered motorcycle is currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
He said the troops have continued to maintain security along the route to protect military personnel and other road users from terrorist attacks.
