Troops arrest suspected ISWAP operative in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, have arrested a suspected ISWAP operative after allegedly finding a photograph of him with men carrying AK-47 rifles in Borno State.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Bubba Hamadu, was arrested at about 2:22 pm on Monday, August 24, 2026, by troops of the Forward Operating Base, FOB, Mairari, and CJTF members in Mairari town, Guzamala Local Government Area.

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the suspect was subjected to preliminary interrogation following his arrest.

During the interrogation, security personnel reportedly found a photograph on his mobile phone showing Hamadu alongside unidentified men carrying AK-47 rifles.

“The discovery raised suspicion about the suspect’s possible links with ISWAP elements operating within the area,” Makama reported.

Security personnel also recovered a Tecno mobile phone, an umbrella, an arrow, prayer beads, a mirror and eye drops from the suspect.
