Troops of the 90 Amphibious Battalion, in collaboration with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested five suspected illicit drug peddlers in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

Zagazola Makama reports that the suspects were arrested during a cordon-and-search operation at about 10:10 p.m. on September 4, 2026, in Ugberukoko Community, following intelligence on alleged drug-peddling activities in the Sapele area.

During the operation, the troops recovered six bottles of a substance suspected to be codeine from the suspects.

“The operation followed credible intelligence on alleged illicit drug activities within the area,” a security source said.

The suspects and recovered exhibits were subsequently handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and necessary action.
