Etienne is off the Week 4 board for the Atlanta game with a hamstring injury, and some missed time is as specific as the prognosis gets. He had yet to clear 13 carries in a game before this, so the question about his volume when he returns is a fair one in a Kellen Moore offense built on division of labor. There is not much you can do here beyond hoping the absence pushes Moore toward giving a healthy lead back 17 to 20 touches.
Should You Start or Sit Travis Etienne Jr. in Week 4?
“Some missed time” is the current prognosis here as Etienne is battling a hamstring injury. It’s vague, and given that Etienne has yet to clear 13 carries in a game, the question begs to be asked about his volume when he does return.

Kellen Moore is known for his division of labor; we just weren’t expecting it due to the contract of Etienne. Through three weeks, it’s clear that we misjudged this role, and the odds of returning value on his draft day cost now feel long, if not impossible.
All of that said, there’s not much you can do here. I’m not optimistic that an RB2 steps up in Etienne’s absence, so maybe there is a world in which that empowers Moore to give a healthy RB1 17-20 touches. The speed of this offense gives a lead back every chance to return value, but a three-way committee is never going to get it done.
