Transfer: ‘I really don’t like this’ – Ben Foster laments as Arsenal allow big, influential star leave Emirates

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Ben Foster has expressed his confusion regarding Arsenal’s decision to sell forward, Leandro Trossard this summer.

The 31-year-old was instrumental in the Gunners’ Premier League victory last season, marking their first league title since the ‘Invincibles’ achievement under Arsene Wenger in 2004.

Trossard participated in 31 league matches, starting 21, during which he scored six goals and provided an equal number of assists.

Since his transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023, the Belgian had finished as a runner-up three consecutive times before ultimately securing the title last season.

Despite this, the Gunners transferred the seasoned player to Turkish club, Besiktas for a reported fee of £17 million this summer, concluding his Emirates tenure with a record of 36 goals and 34 assists in 174 competitive matches, leaving Foster perplexed.

Foster told talkSPORT, “I don’t like the Trossard sale, I really don’t. I think he’s such a significant, influential player for them and I can’t believe they’ve sold him.”

Regarding the arrival of Brazilian midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes, the goalkeeper commented:

“Big signing, I like him a lot.”

Trossard had one year remaining on his contract when he departed the Emirates. He now embarks on a new chapter in Turkey.
