Transfer: Arsenal confirm second summer deal

Arsenal has officially announced the transfer of Jakub Kiwior to FC Porto on a permanent basis, following his loan period with the Portuguese club.

According to football.london, an agreement was established last summer that would allow Kiwior to move for a fee of £14.7 million this summer.

The transfer includes a sell-on clause and additional performance-related payments. The arrangement made in 2025 also permitted Arsenal to acquire Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen under a similar agreement, which has now also been finalized this summer for £34.5 million plus add-ons, as reported by football.london.

Kiwior joined Arsenal during the January transfer window of 2023, alongside Leandro Trossard and Jorginho, from Spezia. He subsequently made 68 appearances across all competitions under the management of Mikel Arteta.

Primarily a left-sided defender, his standout moment came in the 2024/25 season when he stepped in for the injured Gabriel Magalhaes. This included participating in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, where he contributed to a 5-1 aggregate victory.

However, with the signing of Riccardo Calafiori and later Cristhian Mosquera, it became increasingly challenging for Kiwior to secure playing time. Although he had also played as a left-back, the rise of Myles Lewis-Skelly further complicated his chances.

In an interview with Łączy Nas Piłka, Kiwior discussed his conversation with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta regarding his future. “The initial discussion, when I requested the loan, was quite challenging.

“I had never done this before, but I felt it was time to speak with him directly. He was understanding and supportive of my decision.”
