Tolu Arokodare has claimed he did not refuse to train despite assertions Wolves had to cancel a session due to the striker’s actions.

Reports emerged this week that Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto ended a training session on Monday due to Tolu refusing to participate.

It has since been suggested the striker, who joined Wolves for a fee of £24m from Genk last year, had sat down on the pitch and demanded he be allowed to join Fiorentina.

Wolves have reportedly rebuffed Fiorentina’s advances for the 25-year-old, but have accepted a bid from Turkish club Trabzonspor.

However, Tolu has insisted he remains committed to Wolves and suggested the reports were untrue.

I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate.

Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.

He posted on social media: “I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate.

“Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.

“My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my team-mates and the club whenever I am called upon.

“I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract.”

Tolu made 38 appearances for Wolves in all competitions last season, though only 16 of those were starts.

He scored six goals, underperforming his 7.4 expected goals.
