Titans' Robert Saleh has taken notice of Elic Ayomanor

At the end of practice, Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh met with the media and talked about the training camp practice in pads.

While there were some ups and downs, many were expected, as Saleh pointed out that the initial days in pads are usually duds as players get acclimated to the physicality. One player who has had a lot more ups throughout the early portion of training camp is wide receiver Elic Ayomanor, who again had a big day on the field.

When asked about Ayomanor, Saleh didn’t appear to be too surprised by the second-year jump.

“First day of pads. Consistency is the greatest measure of performance, so everyone can do it once; the great ones can do it multiple times over time.” Saleh said, “He worked relentlessly this offseason to put himself in the position to have success for his second season both on and off the field mentally.”

Ayomanor has arguably been the Titans’ most consistent wideout during the early portion of camp, and is clearly making a strong push to crack the starting lineup. But Saleh nailed the reality: Ayomanor must improve his consistency.

As a rookie, he flashed and was one of the Titans’ top receivers. However, he also went through a lull and struggled with some drops. If he can become a consistent threat on the outside and continue to make plays as he has in training camp, the Titans’ offense would be much improved.
