On Friday, the Tennessee Titans held their final practice at the current Nissan Stadium. The Blue & White Stadium Scrimmage was open to fans, and the Titans put on a show for those in attendance.

Cam Ward found Carnell Tate for a sweet one-handed grab, and Will Levis created another meme for Titans fans to giggle over. The defense played well, too, and after the scrimmage ended, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons spoke with the media about the scrimmage.

“It’s great, man,” Simmons says. “It’s the reason we play the game. To be able to come out and just put the ball down and go play football, I love it. In the past, you didn’t get them type of mock games, but I think Coach said it was close to like 50 plays. It’s just like a regular game; when you’re going, you don’t realize how many plays you actually have. And you have plays, but I liked it. I liked the scrimmage setup; we came in, and he told us, ‘I’m gonna let you guys play football.’ You gotta love it. To be able to compete, and I even said after we got done, ‘Way to compete’. Because at the end of the day, we’re trying to get each other better because we got one ultimate goal. You gotta love it. Today was fun.”

Simmons is the undeniable face of the Titans’ organization, although Ward is working his way into that role as well. At the end of the day, football is still a game, and while winning is the goal, having fun certainly helps achieve that goal. Players who enjoy what they are doing always perform better in a game. Allowing the players to play football against each other first is a great way to get them ready for their joint practice and preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers next week.
