Titans' JC Latham is excited for Week 1: 'first game is a tone-setter'

The Tennessee Titans are back at Vanderbilt Health Football Center to start the preps for their Week 1 matchup with the New York Jets, and many from the media went into the locker room to talk to some of the key players.

During one of the scrums, Turron Davenport of ESPN caught up with starting tackle JC Latham and touched on getting off to a fast start in 2026.

“I think it’s extremely important. The first game is a tone-setter. Obviously, going into that game, I look at things like OTAs, minicamp, training camp, and joint practices; all of those are building blocks and learning experiences that set you up for a great season and a great year.”

The Titans are counting on Latham to help anchor the right side of the offensive line, and if he can finally live up to his draft pedigree, it will go a long way in helping Cam Ward take a significant step forward in 2026.

Throughout training camp, Latham has played with an edge and appears to have taken a step forward in his development. Hearing his approach to the offseason and now moving into the regular season, there is a sense of confidence, and he will need it against the Jets and potential reps with second-overall pick David Bailey, who will look to make an impact in his NFL debut.
