‎The Jigawa State Government has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved additional relief materials and empowerment equipment for victims of the 2025 flooding in the state.

‎The State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Auwal D. Sankara, disclosed this while speaking to journalists during the flagging-off of the distribution exercise in Dutse.

‎He said the intervention, through the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, was aimed at reducing the hardship faced by affected households and helping them rebuild their livelihoods.

‎According to him, about 700 households affected by the disaster are benefiting from the Federal Government’s special intervention programme.

‎Sankara explained that the items included 500 bags of 25kg rice, 250 cartons of spaghetti, 500 foam mattresses, 250 cartons of vegetable oil, 250 nylon mats and 250 blankets.

‎He added that the empowerment equipment included 54 pumping machines, 48 grinding machines, 40 sewing machines and 10 cargo tricycles.

‎The commissioner said the intervention was part of the Federal Government’s Special Intervention on Post-2025 Flood Disaster Relief Assistance to States, designed to mitigate the impact of flooding on affected communities.

‎He commended President Tinubu for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.

‎Sankara recalled that the Jigawa State Government, through the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, had earlier provided emergency assistance to hundreds of flood victims shortly after the disaster.

‎He said the state government distributed over 11,000 bags of rice, beans and maize, alongside cash assistance and other essential food items.
