Timothy Olyphant’s Returning 10-Part Apple TV Series Reclaims Its Streaming Crown
Timothy Olyphant’s returning, 10-part Apple TV series has reclaimed its streaming crown. Olyphant’s best TV roles have been increasing in recent years as the actor has become involved in multiple new, high-profile series across various platforms. This includes his role in FX and Hulu’s Alien: Earth, where he portrays the scientific synthetic Kirsh. He also had a vital role in the Apple TV miniseries Lucky, where he played incarcerated criminal John Armstrong, father of the title character played by Anya Taylor-Joy. But this isn’t the only Apple TV show Olyphant has lent his talent to.
Olyphant also had a recurring role in the Apple TV sports comedy series Stick. The show stars Owen Wilson as Pryce Cahill, a former professional golfer who begins training golfing prodigy Santi Wheeler (Peter Dager) as an attempted shot at getting back into the sports game. While he’s only appeared in five episodes so far, Olyphant takes on the role of Clark Ross, Pryce’s former partner on the green and rival in the game. It gives him a major role to play as the story starts to evolve.

Now, Stick has returned to Apple TV’s streaming charts over a year after season 1 ended. According to data from October 28, 2026, Stick is the Number 9 TV show in the United States on Apple TV. This puts it ahead of Your Friends & Neighbors, another key hit for the streaming service, while placing it behind notable series like Shrinking and Widow’s Bay. It also showcases the long-term power of the series for it to be remembered over a year after it originally aired.
It also helps that the show is coming back quite soon. Stick season 2 will begin on November 4, 2026 on Apple TV, meaning its current performance on the platform likely coincides with its forthcoming return. It helps that reviews for Stick have been overwhelmingly positive across the board. According to Rotten Tomatoes, season 1 holds a Certified Fresh 81% from critics based on 62 reviews. It’s a strength that’s only bolstered by its return, and one that explains how it’s managed to become a streaming success once again.
The Star Has A Much Bigger Role In Season 2
While Olyphant only had a recurring role in the cast of Stick during season 1, that’s about to change in the show’s upcoming episodes. Olyphant is listed as a series regular for season 2, joining Wilson, Dager, Lilli Kay, Mariana Treviño, and Marc Maron on the main cast. Season 2 will also see Judy Greer upgraded to a main cast role after having a recurring presence as Pryce’s ex-wife, Amber-Lynn, in season 1. These changes mean Clark will be a much bigger part of the story going forward.
Since Olyphant’s character managed to achieve high recognition in season 1, it’s not a surprise the actor will have a bigger role during the sports comedy’s second outing. Stick‘s popularity on Apple TV one week before it returns is a good sign that season 2 will see an even bigger level of interest once it arrives. It also adds to the number of long-running sports comedies on the platform, proving the genre has legs no matter the sports-based subject matter.
