Timothy Olyphant’s Quentin Tarantino Meets Guy Ritchie Crime Thriller Officially Lands New Streaming Home

Timothy Olyphant’s underrated 1999 crime thriller has officially found a new streaming home. Directed by Doug Liman and written by John August, the dark comedy combines several storylines. The film follows several characters who unexpectedly cross paths through drug deals, dangerous encounters, and other bad decisions.

Released in April 1999, the movie features a massive ensemble cast that consists of Sarah Polley, Katie Holmes, Desmond Askew, Taye Diggs, Jay Mohr, Scott Wolf, and Olyphant. Go arrived during a time when Hollywood was embracing unconventional narratives following the success of Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. The film established itself through its fun creative direction, dark humor, and unique storytelling structure. Now, more than 25 years after its debut, the crime thriller is getting another opportunity to reach viewers on Pluto TV.

Olyphant’s Go Is Bringing Its Stylish Thrills To Pluto TV

Go is joining Pluto TV’s rapidly growing library. The streaming platform’s new addition allows audiences to watch the 1999 crime comedy for free, as the ad-supported service doesn’t require a paid subscription, introducing the film to viewers who missed its original release at no cost at all.

Go follows three narratives that unfold around Christmas time. One centers on Ronna Martin (Polley), a struggling supermarket employee who starts selling drugs. Another follows Simon Baines (Askew), whose trip to Las Vegas quickly spirals out of control. The third storyline focuses on TV stars Adam (Wolf) and Zack (Jay Mohr), who get involved in a police operation.

The Crime Thriller Is The Epitome Of Tarantino & Ritchie’s Stylings

One of Go‘s defining traits is its unconventional narrative structure, which strongly resembles Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. Rather than presenting events with a straightforward chronological timeline, the movie features three different stories that eventually intertwine. Characters who initially appear to be irrelevant play major roles later on.

Go also shares several similarities with Guy Ritchie’s early crime films, such as 1998’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Both movies focus on strange characters, overlapping crimes, quick pacing, and the ridiculous consequences of plans going horribly wrong.

Like Ritchie’s films, Go doesn’t just focus on the dark, gritty side of the genre, it also manages to find the humor in these very dangerous and emotionally draining situations.

Ultimately, Go blends the storytelling structure that Tarantino often uses and the hilarious misadventures that are commonly found in Ritchie’s projects. However, despite these common themes, it still manages to stand on its own. With the film now streaming on Pluto TV, fans of Tarantino and Ritchie can watch something that combines the best of both worlds.
