Apple TV is the streaming home of a hit comedy series with a stacked cast that includes names like Timothy Olyphant, and the show just keeps getting better ahead of its upcoming 2026 return. Apple TV’s roster of series is usually mentioned in relation to the huge library of sci-fi shows on the streamer. That makes sense, as the genre is treated well by Apple.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Foundation, Silo, and more Apple TV sci-fi shows have been given the budgets to thrive. That said, the streaming service’s offerings go well beyond the sci-fi genre. I believe that one of Apple TV’s very best is comedy, of which the streamer holds a few pitch-perfect shows. One of those is perhaps Apple TV’s most popular series, Ted Lasso.
That said, the sports comedy is not alone in making Apple TV subscribers laugh, cry, and connect with characters on a deep level. Other emotional Apple TV feel-good comedy series include the Jason Segel and Harrison Ford therapist series Shrinking, Seth Rogen’s absurd Hollywood behind-the-scenes show The Studio, Rogen’s rom-com series Platonic with Rose Byrne, and more.

Among those shows is a similar series to Ted Lasso in a key way, as Owen Wilson’s Stick is another of Apple TV’s sports comedy series. The show debuted on the streaming service on June 4, 2025, airing 10 episodes in season 1. Stick will soon return with season 2, and the Apple TV comedy series has just kept getting better ahead of its 2026 return.
Stick Season 1 Hit Its Best Stretch At The End
Stick holds a strong 81% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 62 reviews, with Wilson’s comedy series coming in at a lower 72% audience score. Those scores show one thing, which is that Stick was still finding its footing back when season 1 was released on Apple TV. That said, within the show’s first 10 episodes, the growth in both the story and its characters was already easy to point out. A good way of measuring that is through how the public sentiment on Stick season 1 shifted throughout the Apple TV comedy series’ 10-episode first season.
On IMDB, Stick season 1 started with episode 1 posting a 7.6 user score based on over 1200 ratings. Stick would grow to have its best run in season 1’s final three-episode stretch. On IMDB, Stick season 1, episodes 8, 9 and 10, have user scores of 8.3, 7.9, and 8.2, respectively. A lot of season 1 was setting up characters and relationships for the events of those three episodes, which had higher stakes and served as the payoff for what came before, explaining why Apple TV subscribers like them so much. It all culminated in a shocking finale that did away with a cliché happy ending.
Stick Season 2’s Cast Updates Make The Apple TV Series Even More Exciting
Besides the way that show itself made its story and relationships hit harder towards the end of season 1, Stick has also set up season 2 to be even better through a few casting updates. When Stick season 2 debuts on Apple TV on November 4, it will be with an even bigger role for Olyphant. The actor played Clark Ross in season 1, with the character being directly tied to the downfall of Pryce Cahill’s career as a professional golfer. After having a recurring role in season 1, Olyphant is back as a series regular in season 2.
This means the show should devote plenty of time to fleshing out the long rivalry and possible status change between Wilson’s character and Olyphant’s. Additionally, Stick season 2 will also welcome a few major names to the series. Chief among them is Rhea Seehorn, who is fresh off her first Best Actress Emmy win for Apple TV’s sci-fi drama series Pluribus. Another noteworthy addition is Billy Zane, with Judy Greer becoming a series regular like Olyphant, Stick just keeps getting better.
