And I don’t own the Dots I’m wearing
And the road goes on forever
And I’ve got one more silver dollar
- Just when it seemed like Jedd Fisch had Washington’s season back on track, some losses on the recruiting trail have sapped that positive energy. After WR Dontay Tyson flipped from Washington to Wisconsin over the weekend, the Dawgs also lost their QB commit from the class yesterday. Arizona QB Blake Roskopf announced that he would reopen his commitment. The development raises the question of whether Fisch has pivoted in his philosophy of building through high school recruits and if the Dawgs will try to build the QB room increasingly through the transfer portal. Christian Caple has more details on Roskopf’s decisions and the implications.
- It wasn’t so long ago that Trent McDuffie dominated one side of the defensive backfield for the Huskies, but the changes to college sports in the intervening years make it feel like it was several generations ago. McDuffie echoed those thoughts in a radio interview, where he talked about how much he misses the Pac-12. He specifically talked about the regional influence and rivalries that grew out of it. It’s hard to argue with McDuffie, but it’s also hard to imagine any alternative given the increasing primacy of revenue generation in the sport.
- On a more positive note, the Huskies got their signature road win of the season last week due to the contributions of Chris Lawson and the returning Demond Williams. Both receiver and QB talked to the media yesterday about what allowed them to finally break through against a stingy Nebraska defense.
- Husky Men’s Soccer had mixed results this week. On the negative side, the team in the country dropped a tough road game 1-0 against UCLA. More positively, the Dawgs clinched the seed for the Big 10 Tournament. They will next play in the conference semifinal on the 11th against the winner of Rutgers vs. UCLA.
- Husky Women’s Soccer will kick off their own conference tournament in St Louis. The Dawgs, ranked in the country, will face Michigan St in the quarterfinals.
Something to note now that almost every team has played 1 game. UW is the oldest team in the country per KenPom. Average player on the court had 3.02 years of experience.
Nikola Dzepina the only underclassman in UW’s primary 8-man rotation.

UW’s initial availability report for Saturday’s game against Penn State. Alex McLaughlin is listed as questionable, which is a new development. Also, UW’s top three centers appear here, though Geirean Hatchett is at least listed as probable. Champ Taulealea also a new addition.
