Bayern Munich director Max Eberl says Konrad Laimer was taken off as a precaution against RB Leipzig, though he noted “things weren’t completely fine.”

Bayern beat Leipzig 3-1 to win the pre-season Telekom Cup on Saturday, with Luis Diaz, Nathaniel Brown and Jamal Musiala all getting the goals for the Bundesliga champions.

However, they suffered multiple setbacks throughout the match, with Laimer, Kim Min-jae and Musiala all going off with fitness concerns.

They are just a week out from facing Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, and there is concern over Laimer’s exit, which came just 10 minutes into the contest.

He appeared to suffer a hit to his right thigh, and Eberl accepts Laimer will need time on the sidelines despite it being a knock.

“Konny took a knock relatively early on,” Eberl told Sport 1. “It quickly started to swell up, so he was taken off as a precaution.

“He could no longer walk and had to be supported. Things weren’t completely fine.

“I can’t say how long he’ll be out for. The situation is currently being examined in more detail.”

After facing Dortmund for silverware next weekend, Bayern will kick off their Bundesliga title defence against Stuttgart on August 28.
