These Three Red Sox Players Are Part Of 14-Game Win Streak For Second Straight Year

· · 2 min read

The Boston Red Sox are one win shy of tying the longest win streak in franchise history at 15.

That mark was set by the 1946 team, led by Ted Williams. Now, this Red Sox team is looking to make history of its own this week. A win on Tuesday would tie the record, and a series sweep over the Orioles on Wednesday would etch this team in the history books. A 14-game win streak is rare, but the Red Sox have three players who were a part of one just last year.

Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio and Anthony Seigler were all on the roster when the Milwaukee Brewers went on their 14-game win streak last season, from Aug. 1-16. Durbin was Monday night’s hero with his go-ahead homer in the eighth inning, and he was a key part of the Brewers’ win streak as well.

During the Red Sox’s win streak, Durbin is hitting .269 with a .817 OPS. He has three home runs and 14 hits in the last 14 games, and he has suddenly become a key part of this team. After an abysmal start to the year, it’s now hard to imagine the Red Sox winning this much without Durbin.

Monasterio hit .500 with a 1.429 OPS during the Brewers’ 14-game win streak last season. During this Red Sox streak, he is once again swinging a hot bat when given the chance. He is hitting .333 with a 1.162 OPS in nine games. Seigler played just 10 games during the Brewers’ streak, but was on the roster for all 14. He had a .278 average in the games he played, with a .409 on-base percentage.

Seigler has played in 12 of the 14 games of the Red Sox’s win streak, but has just a .533 OPS. All three will look to help the Red Sox extend their streak to 15 on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.
