Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard about the Dungeon Crawler Carl franchise, and if you have, you will be pleased to hear that it is set to welcome a huge release later this month, and it is not one that you will want to miss out on.
Since it was first published back in 2020, the sci-fi LitRPG book series has become something of a cultural phenomenon, and with eight books already under its belt, it is safe to say that it is here to stay, especially as one final volume (split into two parts) is still in the works.
Telling the story of Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, the story follows them as they complete a dungeon crawl as part of an intergalactic reality television show following an alien corporation’s takeover of Earth.
Praised for blending gaming mechanics with diverse characters, rich lore, and dark humor, Dungeon Crawler Carl has even captured the attention of Peacock, which is currently working on bringing the hit book series to the big screen courtesy of a television show.
In the meantime, however, November will be welcoming a major release titled Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable.
Published by Renegade Game Studios, Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable is an upcoming cooperative or solo card-crafting deck-building board game set in the universe of Matt Dinniman’s best-selling series. Created by John D. Clair as part of the Unstoppable game line, it will allow players to take on the role of either Carl or Princess Donut as they play through floors of the World Dungeon, all whilst managing their health, resources, mana, action points, and gold. By upgrading your abilities, you will be able to craft stronger cards, and therefore, take on stronger bosses, but with bigger bosses yielding bigger rewards, it may just be worth the risk. Each card is double-sided with one side dedicated to abilities, tactics, and allies, whilst the other shows threats, traps, and enemies.
Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable offers the first three levels of the World Dungeon, but fear not, as expansions are already available for pre-order too, including both Crawler Chaos and The Iron Tangle, which come alongside even more floors for you to undertake. Additionally, the Unstoppable collection does not end there, as you can even pre-order dedicated miniature and dice sets.
The release date for Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, and all of its additional expansions and sets, is 23 November, so you have just a couple of weeks to go before you can gather friends and attempt the World Dungeon yourself.
