The Rings Of Power Season 3 Release Schedule - When New Episodes Come To Prime Video

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 is approaching, and it will be provided to viewers on a unique schedule. The Prime Video series first kicked off in 2022, with its second season arriving two years later in 2024. Right on schedule (though perhaps a few months late), Rings of Power season 3 is preparing to premiere this month of 2026. It should be a thrilling continuation of the story, as season 3 is when the War of Elves and Sauron is supposed to officially be underway.

Season 2 of The Rings of Power ended with Sauron’s great destruction of Eregion, following the creation of his Seven Dwarven Rings and the Nine Rings for Men. With these tasks out of the way, the Dark Lord no longer needs to hide behind the disguises of Halbrand or Annatar. Instead, Sauron, in all his evil glory, can step forward to conquer Middle-earth wearing his own face. The Rings of Power season picks up five years into this war, so we can expect the action to begin pretty quickly.

It certainly seems as if Rings of Power is using this season to officially leave behind the slower exposition that was so necessary in the first two installments. Dark fantasy war is what the Lord of the Rings franchise does best, and, to our great relief, Prime Video isn’t wasting any time handing out precisely what we’ve asked for. Rather than weekly episodes released over multiple months, Rings of Power is coming out with a sort of binge-hybrid structure, with all eight episodes released over just three dates in November 2026.

The First 4 Episodes Of The Rings Of Power Release November 11th On Prime Video

It will all begin on November 11, 2026, at 12:00 AM PT and 3:00 AM ET. This is when Prime Video will release a whopping half of its Rings of Power season 3 episodes. With a four-episode premiere, viewers can dive right in with an approximately four-hour binge. This will be more than enough time to fill in the events of the past five years in-world and begin the key features of this particular stage in the war. That may mean the arrival of Sauron’s Ringwraiths, or the creation of the One Ring itself, all of which have been teased for season 3.

After that four-episode premiere, The Rings of Power season 3 will continue with two additional bulk release dates. Episodes 5 and 6 will be available on Prime Video on November 18, 2026, at 12:00 AM PT and 3:00 AM ET. Then, on November 28, 2026, the final two episodes will hit the platform. This will bring Rings of Power season 3 to a close, with the entire installment released in a single month.

The streaming landscape has long been dominated by either typical weekly releases or a binge format. Up to now, Rings of Power has stuck with that more traditional model, but things are clearly changing for season 3. It’s certainly no accident. The way new shows are aired is all part of a very purposeful release strategy agreed upon by the creators and the network or streamer. In the case of Rings of Power, showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay were kind enough to explain (via Gizmodo) their thought process:

“We generally, as the creators, feel that the show plays better on a binge because it really is so highly serialized and there are so many storylines. It’s the kind of show, just as viewers, that we find that you really have to pay attention to and you want to get that feeling you get when you’re hooked on a show where it sweeps you away and we find when you watch it, boom, boom, boom, boom, it sort of works better. So we’re always advocating for more episodes sooner, and then this particular season, we really wanted it to be out by the holidays. We wanted people to be able to binge it over the holidays. So it’ll be a quick release, but then you can watch it at your leisure.”

A common criticism of The Rings of Power has been its pacing, and there have been past concerns about the show’s seasonal completion rates. The comment above suggests that Payne and McKay might have preferred a bulk release from the beginning, but that season 3 was the first season in which they were able to fully execute it. Time will tell if this release schedule will do the most for Rings of Power season 3. Chances are, there will be very few complaints about pacing this time around.
