The RI Women's Amateur final is set. Here's who will play for the title

The only thing more perfect than the weather at Agawam Hunt for Thursday’s Julie Green Amateur Championship semifinals was the starts Hanley Correia and Olivia Williams got off to in their respective matches.

Now the two will try to figure out how to do it again as they meet for a title.

Williams, the second seed, put together her best nine of the tournament with three birdies on the front en route to a 5-and-4 win over No. 3 Morgan MacLeod. Correia, the No. 4 seed, won three of her seven holes to prevent Val Blinn from grabbing another upset in an eventual 4-and-2 win.

The championship match is set to tee off at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24 at Agawam Hunt. Williams will be in search of her second title after winning in 2023 and Correia will be chasing her first. The two met last year in the semifinals of the Rhode Island Junior Amateur, with Correia pulling out the 3-and-2 win at Pawtucket Country Club.

There weren’t many golfers who would have beaten Williams on Thursday. Williams was all square with MacLeod, her college teammate at Merrimack, two holes in, then ripped off back-to-back birdies on the par 5 third and fourth holes, with a par on No. 6 giving her a three-up lead.

Williams continued to stomp her foot on the gas, making a bird on the short par-4 seventh hole and then going 5-up with a par on No. 8. MacLeod got one back with a birdie on No. 10, but Williams made three straight pars and got the lead back to 5-up before closing things out with a bogey on No. 14.

Correia’s consistency was key and helped keep the upset-mined Blinn – who beat No. 1 seed Kylie Eaton the quarterfinals – chasing all morning. Correia’s par on No. 2 gave her an early 1-up lead, then back-to-back birdies on Nos. 6 and 7 made it 3-up. Blinn got the deficit down to two with a birdie on No. 8, but Correia wouldn’t let it get closer than that.

The two traded wins on Nos. 13 and 14 before Correia, who’s committed to play at Stonehill this fall, made back-to-back pars to earn her spot in the final.
