There isn’t a bigger stage in club football than the UEFA Champions League, an annual extravaganza of Europe’s top talents.
Throughout the competition’s history, some of football’s greatest players have etched their names into football folklore. FromCristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to modern-day stars in Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, the Champions League has been home to elite marksmen.
Cristiano Ronaldo holds theChampions League records for both career goals and goals in a single season. His most prolific campaign came in 2013/14, when he scored 17 times to help Real Madrid secure a record-extending 10th European crown.
Ronaldo also sits second in the standings, having scored 16 times in 2015/16, and joint-third, with 15 goals in 2017/18. Real Madrid won the Champions League in each of those campaigns.
Four different players have reached 15 or more goals in a single edition, including Kylian Mbappe in2025/26. Incredibly, Mbappe became the first footballer to score 15 goals in a single season and not win the Champions League.
With the format expanded to more teams and more games, could anyone break Ronaldo’s record this season?
