Now 41, some may have assumed that Ronaldo would have called time on his international career following the 2026 World Cup in North America.

Lionel Messi has officially retired from Argentina at 39 and is scheduled to play his final match for his country in the break.

But while Messi may have hung up his boots at international level, fans are predicting that Ronaldo could still be playing for Portugal at the 2030 World Cup.

Now, many fans have reacted to the post and suggested Ronaldo’s Portugal career is far from over.

One fan stated: “The GOAT is coming for 2030 World Cup.”

A third echoed: “We need him at 2030 WC,” with another writing: “Yes, he’s going for another World Cup.”

A sixth claimed: “2030 World Cup loading,” and another tweeted: “The agenda is World Cup 2030.”

Ronaldo will be 45 by the time the 2030 World Cup, which will primarily be held in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, kicks off.

The oldest player to ever compete at a World Cup is Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary, who was 45 years and 161 days old at the time.

Ronaldo is already the fourth-oldest player to feature in the competition (41 years and 151 days), with Faryd Mondragon (43 years and 3 days) and Roger Milla (42 years and 39 days) taking second and third place, respectively.
