The Diplomat Season 5's Fate Officially Sealed At Netflix

Netflix’s slate of thriller shows plays a huge role in the streaming service’s success, with several genre hits over the years. One of the streamer’s most popular subgenres comes down to political thrillers. After all, the first major Netflix Original series was just that, with House of Cards following Frank Underwood as he tried to make his way to the Oval Office to become the President of the United States. In recent years, shows like The Diplomat have occupied that spot on the streaming service’s slate of releases, and it seems like the Netflix hit political thriller series is not going anywhere,

Netflix has officially announced that The Diplomat has been renewed for season 5. The update comes after the Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell-led political thriller’s fourth season recently debuted on the streamer, with all eight episodes of the hit series dropping on Netflix on October 15. The Diplomat focuses on Russell’s Kate Wyler, who starts the show as the new United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, having to deal with major international crises, political games with powerful players, and a complicated marriage to Sewell’s Hal Wyler, another political animal who sees his role grow exponentially over the thriller’s seasons.
