It’s Labor Day morning, and the Red Wings are still without a general manager. As of now, the only thing known for certain about the process is that interviews have started, though scattered reports over the last week point to the team at the very least narrowing down the list of candidates for the job.

Insider Frank Seravalli listed today as a loose deadline that the Red Wings had set to decide on their next man in charge, so it is still possible that there is further breaking news for the team today. Though Seravalli did qualify that statement by later telling an aggregator on social media that he did not have information at the time that would substantiate that yet.

However, with no general manager or president of hockey ops in place, the team is still stuck somewhat i the lurch as they await a decision maker to sign pending RFA Simon Edvinsson and navigate Dylan Larkin’s trade request, even as the rest of the NHL world returns to their home stadiums.

As the hockey world slowly thaws from its post-free agency summer freeze, the NHL has also started counting down their Top 50 players, with the 40-31 top players being revealed on the official NHL website last night.

No Red Wings player has yet appeared on the list, though it feels likely that after ranking in the top 20 at their positions, both Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond could find their way onto the NHL’s top 50 list. Mo Seider, who the NHL placed as their ninth best defenseman, also seems likely to make an appearance on the NHL’s top 50 list.

Finnish former Red Wings forward Valterri Filppula is officially a hall of famer.

RFA Simon Edvinsson’s next contract is looking to keep growing as the days pass by.

There’s been a lot of discussion over the last week about EA’s latest entry into the NHL franchise. Between new graphics, old mechanics, and some re-occurring bugs that players had thought squashed, it hasn’t been the smoothest of releases.

Most recently, eyes have turned to the player face scans in the game, which range from somewhat similar to the real player to… This-
