Pep Guardiola has been talking about Barcelona and Hansi Flick and made his admiration for the German coach very clear once again.

Flick guided Barcelona to another La Liga title in the 2025-26 season and Guardiola says he loves the team he’s created at Camp Nou.

“He’s had two extraordinary years , even with so many players from La Masia. Watching them play is a joy; they play very attractive football,” he told reporters at an event on Saturday.

“I’m a big fan of Flick’s Barça and I hope he stays for many years.”

Yet Flick has come in for scrutiny for Barca’s performances in the Champions League. Barca have been knocked out in the semi-finals and quarter-finals in the last two seasons but Guardiola says that doesn’t mean Flick is doing a bad job.

“The Champions League destroys projects, I hope that’s not the case here,” he added.

“Not winning it doesn’t mean things aren’t being done very well. La Liga is what gives you consistency throughout the season, while the Champions League is different; you depend on other factors, injuries, the influence of the referees, which is significant in this competition.

“The important thing is that the team continues to grow and that they don’t think that not reaching the final means it’s a bad season. The competition that truly determines whether a season is good or bad is La Liga.”
