Summary: For those “sickos” who can’t get enough Louisville football related news and infromation, Dylan Mesman was a BIG name in the recruiting world a couple years back. Mesman, a high profile recruit, ranked as a four star talent across multiple platforms, ended up selecting the Cards over Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Michigan State…lets just say the majority of Power Four in the SEC and ACC. Mesman has great size, good speed and incredibly soft hands. In fact, word on the street is he can catch an egg from a jugs machine with nail covered gloves and not let it break on impact…I just wont tell you what street.

Mesman came in last year and got some reps early in game one, and then played somewhat consistently on special teams, predominantly kick return. While I was geared up to see Mesman maybe slide into second or third team reps the staff did sign a couple studs in the tight end room from the portal which will be stiff competition. When the Cards field two tight end sets this year my guess today would be Foley and Skinner would be the ones getting their number called, but we’ve seen some sudden movement during the summer and fall in key positions, and Mesman has the measurables to surprise some folks this year. Also of note, Mesman has shown he can block from the TE spot, and that as we all know, gets you on the field sooner than later.

While I can see a situation where he sees the field sparingly this year, Dylan is one I hope we can continue to develop and get on the field soon. I believe him to be a multi-year guy when he gets his chance. Would hate to see him look for other landing places in the mean time.
