After a roller-coaster of a nonconference schedule, Texas volleyball (4-4, 0-0 SEC) opens SEC play Friday with a stiff test at No. 13 Tennessee (9-1, 1-0).
The Longhorns endured arguably the most challenging nonconference schedule in the country while playing seven of their eight games against teams currently ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. But Texas has struggled with the nation’s top teams, going 1-5 against top 10 foes.
Tennessee hasn’t played as tough a schedule but did pick up a win at No. 9 Penn State last weekend. Texas has won all three matches over the past three seasons against the Vols, but last year’s match in Austin went five sets.
