Texas moved to 4-0 this year after a win over Tennessee on Saturday. Texas escaped with a 20-17 victory on Saturday after giving up a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Now, head coach Steve Sarkisian is speaking out about his quarterback, Arch Manning, per Tyler Horka of Inside Texas.

“He didn’t have a lot of ops…He’ll continue to get better as we get better around him…You can’t just say ‘Arch needs to play better.’ No, no, no. A lot of guys need to play better,” Sark said about his quarterback.

Manning went 14 of 19 passing on Saturday for 201 yards. He did not throw a touchdown but did throw an interception. He helped lead Texas on a touchdown drive on the first drive of the game. On that drive, he hit Emmett Mosley V for a 43-yard completion. He threw his interception on the second drive of the second quarter, but Tennessee would punt on the subsequent drive.

This year, Manning has not been as good in the first half overall. So far this year, he has completed 42 of 65 passes for 506 yards and four touchdowns. Still, he has thrown all three of his interceptions in the first half so far this year. In the second half, he is 31 of 50 passing for 356 yards and three scores. While Manning has had some struggles early in games, he has been great in the red zone this year. So far in the red zone, he has completed 12 of 20 passes for 99 yards with six touchdowns and just one interception in the red zone.

Texas is the top-ranked team in the nation. They will be off in Week 5 before facing Oklahoma in Week 6.
