During last month’s SEC media days, Texas football player Trevor Goosby shared an interesting tidbit about new teammate Raleek Brown.
“We call him Band-Aid,” the Longhorns’ offensive lineman said.
When asked about the origin of that nickname for Brown, a transfer running back who spent the past two years at Arizona State, Goosby didn’t have any additional insight. “(They) were just like, ‘He’s Band-Aid.’ I was, like, all right.”

But as fall camp got underway this week for the Longhorns, fellow running back Ryan Niblett shed some additional light on Brown’s moniker. Niblett pointed out that “Band-Aid” is a part of Brown’s Instagram handle (@bandaidleekfo3), and he added the nickname is also a reference to the currency bands that are used for $100 bills.
“He likes to call (himself) Band-Aid because of the blue strip on the $100 bill,” Niblett said. “That’s what he told us.”
Niblett described Brown as “a character” off the field. When asked to describe Brown’s running style, Niblett surmised that his new teammate is “a little different. He’s short, but runs long. He’s very fast, very quick, agile.”

Over four years at Arizona State and USC, Brown turned nearly 300 offensive touches into 13 touchdowns while averaging 5.9 yards per carry and 7.8 yards per catch. He rushed for 1,141 yards during the 2025 season and earned a first-team nod on the Big 12 honor roll.
Brown now joins a Texas backfield that has also added North Carolina State transfer Hollywood Smothers and four-star freshman Derrek Cooper to the mix. With 399 yards and 10 touchdowns, quarterback Arch Manning is the Longhorns’ leading returning rusher from a 2025 rushing attack that had its top four running backs transfer to Florida State (Quintrevion Wisner), Kentucky (CJ Baxter), South Carolina (Christian Clark) and Purdue (Jerrick Gibson). The Longhorns ranked 90th nationally last season in rushing at 137.8 yards per game, which tied for the program’s worst ranking in that statistical category since 2018.
