Texas five-star WR commit makes ridiculous one-handed touchdown grab

Unlike the words in Ella Langley’s hit song “Choosin’ Texas,” Texas football fans actually have their eyes on Tennessee this weekend as the programs square off in a massive top 25 showdown.

On Friday night, however, their eyes may have shifted a bit back to the south to catch a jaw-dropping performance from one of their top 2027 commits.

Brother Martin (New Orleans, LA) five-star receiver Easton Royal has been committed to the Longhorns since last November but the Longhorns find themselves in a battle to keep him from flipping to fellow SEC programs like Florida and LSU.

Performances like he had Friday night show exactly why Texas is battling so hard to keep his commitment.

In a 24-22 win over Jesuit (LA), Royal caught a pair of touchdown passes. One of those receptions looked like more like something out of a video game than in real life.

Deep in Jesuit territory, Brother Martin had an opportunity to strike first in the opening quarter. They did just that from 6 yards out as Royal rose up to make an improbable one-handed snag.

According to the USA TODAY Sports composite ranking for the 2027 class, Royal ranks as the No. 5 overall player in the cycle and the top-ranked wide receiver prospect. He’s set to return to Gainesville on Saturday for Florida’s game against Ole Miss.

He’s already taken visits to LSU and Texas this fall.

Thanks to Royal’s massive night, the Crusaders moved to 4-0 on the season. Friday night’s game was their closest win so far this season.

They’ll need more performances like that from Royal going forward, especially heading into next week. Brother Martin hosts the state’s top-ranked team Edna Karr (LA) as they look to end the Cougars’ 30-game winning streak.
