This past weekend, coach texas-m-100333829.html">Mike Elko and his staff hosted another talented group of 2027 prospects, including five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who recently stated that the Aggies are at the top of his list, but will still take his OVs to Michigan and South Carolina, unless something changes in the coming days.
Still, this is very important after fellow five-star cornerback John Meredith, who had his official visit to College Station the weekend prior, followed by his OV with Texas, as the Aggies will likely only land one of the two blue-chip prospects, which, according to On3 recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong, will likely be Dobson after what could be his final visit before committing.
However, landing John Meredith isn’t completely out of the question. Wiltfong is waiting to see if he makes his way back to campus for a final visit before his commitment, but right now, the Longhorns look like the current leaders after what many have deemed a successful visit. Meredith is the No. 1-ranked corner, while Dobson is No. 2, meaning both would be slam-dunk additions with elite potential.
Another name to watch is five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien, who also received an early prediction to land with Texas A&M, and as of this week, Wiltfong has stuck by his prediction, believing the Aggies are in a prime position to secure his commitment, even after he takes his official visit with Notre Dame on June 19.
Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is currently composed of 20 commitments, now including five-star kicker Andres von der Meden, who announced his commitment on Monday afternoon. The Aggies are expected to hold onto the No. 1 ranking by the end of the year, especially if Dobson and Simien commit in the coming weeks.
