While the Texans improved from 2024, Houston’s trench play remained underwhelming. During free agency, the Texans added several starting-level veterans with names like Cleveland Browns‘ Wyatt Teller and Indianapolis Colts‘ Braden Smith. In the draft, Houston added multiple versatile interior presences like Keylan Rutledge and Febechi Nwaiwu, both of whom should at least be considered potential starting options beyond 2026.
Ingram, who broke out last season as the key at right guard, is one of two starters returning this season. The Texans believe in his potential so much that they avoided watching him walk in free agency by extending him on a new three-year deal worth $37.5 million.

He’ll now be viewed as a leader for Cole Popovich’s squad and as such, he sees a promising outlook toward the new unit building a rapport in the early stages of offseason workouts.
“The offensive line, we have jelled together quite well,” Ingram told KPRC2‘s Aaron Wilson. “I feel like [offensive line coach Cole Popovich] has got a good group of guys in a room together. We are all like-minded and all have one common goal, which is just showing each and everybody that the line here, that it’s changed.”
Ingram also mentioned that Houston’s line play should elevate the on-field result of Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud as he plans on making a run toward a new contract this fall.
“We’re doing a complete 180, and we’re a different line, we’re a different unit, and that the team can rely on us to run behind us, block for C.J. and we’re going to have a great year,” Ingram said.
The Texans report to training camp on July 21.
