Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants: 6 things to know about Week 3

The Tennessee Titans head into Week 3 searching for their first win of the 2026 season after falling to 0-2 with a four-point loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, Tennessee travels to face the New York Giants for their first road game of the season, who are coming off a 28-6 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams that featured various injuries.

Despite the Giants’ injury woes, this matchup features plenty of intriguing storylines, including the Giants’ quarterback injury woes and Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll facing his former team.

This is perhaps the most intriguing storyline for Tennessee. Daboll spent four seasons as the Giants’ head coach from 2022-25 before joining the Titans as offensive coordinator in January. After leading the Giants to a playoff victory and winning NFL Coach of the Year in 2022, Daboll went 11-33 over his next three seasons before getting fired after a 2-8 start last season.

After the Titans’ depressing offensive performance against the New York Jets in Week 1, Daboll gave a press conference that reminded Giants fans of what he said after nearly every loss during his coaching tenure. Now, Daboll gets his first chance to face the organization that gave him his only head coaching opportunity.

Dart left Monday night’s loss to the Rams during the opening drive after suffering a knee injury. Giants head coach John Harbaugh said afterward that the injury was in the neighborhood of a sprained MCL.

However, reports indicated Dart’s injury is worse than originally thought, and he could miss the rest of the season. Unfortunately, fans will miss out on the battle of last year’s two first-round pick quarterbacks dueling for the first time in their NFL careers in Dart and Cam Ward.

Tennessee dropped its first two games, but the Week 2 loss to Philadelphia was far more competitive than the opener against the Jets. The Titans took the lead over the Eagles with 1:56 remaining before Philadelphia scored the go-ahead touchdown with nine seconds remaining.

A road matchup with the hobbled Giants gives Tennessee another opportunity to finally get into the win column. They will likely face Jameis Winston at quarterback for the Giants, who has a 0-2 record in his career against Tennessee.

Daboll isn’t the only Titans connection to New York. Former Giants tight end Daniel Bellinger, cornerback Cor’Dale Flott, receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, and center Austin Schlottmann are all on the Titans’ roster after playing for Daboll last season. That should add another layer to a matchup already filled with familiar faces.

Ward’s Week 2 performance against Philadelphia was a significant improvement from his rough opener against the Jets. He’ll now face a Giants defense that just allowed 28 points to the Rams, giving the Titans’ second-year quarterback another opportunity to build confidence and show progress.

Tennessee’s defensive front has a chance to make life difficult for whoever starts at quarterback for New York. Jeffery Simmons is off to a dominant start, leading the NFL in pass-rush wins through two games, and is looking to finish the deal this time after the defensive line failed to contain Jalen Hurts on their final possession against the Eagles.
