Tennessee has bolstered its 2027 recruiting class by securing a commitment from three-star cornerback Preston Glasco on Wednesday evening, beating out Alabama and Georgia for the Grayson High School standout.

The 6-foot-2, approximately 190-pound prospect had previously committed to UConn on June 10 but reopened his recruitment on September 22. The Volunteers extended a scholarship offer on September 24 and quickly emerged as a contender despite entering the race later than the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs.

Alabama offered Glasco in September and gained momentum, while Georgia remained involved throughout the process. Glasco also completed official visits to both programs, visiting the Bulldogs in June and the Crimson Tide in late September. Tennessee made its move after hosting him for the Volunteers’ October 17 game against Alabama in Knoxville. That visit gave the coaching staff an opportunity to make its case before Glasco reached his decision.

Head coach Josh Heupel’s relationship with the defensive back also contributed to the Volunteers recruitment. Glasco described the head coach as approachable and said his experience with Heupel had matched his expectations since receiving the offer. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and Coach Jones also helped improve Tennessee’s position.

Glasco’s physical profile makes him a developmental prospect with potential at cornerback. He possesses long limbs, quick footwork and the reach to challenge receivers at the catch point. He also demonstrates physicality against the run and works to disrupt receivers’ timing in coverage.

However, Glasco still needs to improve his ability to locate the football and develop his deep speed. Injuries limited his playing time during much of his sophomore and junior seasons, potentially affecting his recruiting rankings. He reportedly made major progress early in his senior campaign.

His evaluations vary across recruiting services. The 247Sports Composite lists Glasco as the No. 88 cornerback in the 2027 class, while another 247Sports ranking places him at No. 69 nationally among cornerbacks. He is also ranked among Georgia’s top 104 players in the cycle.

Glasco becomes the Volunteers’ 19th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class, and their sixth defensive back. Tennessee ranks No. 22 nationally in the 247Sports team rankings.

The class includes five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, alongside four-star prospects such as tight end Malik Howard, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, linebacker Kenneth Simon and offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo.

With the early signing period scheduled for December 2-4, the Volunteers continue working to secure their remaining targets. In-state defensive line prospect Joshua Lane is among the players the Volunteers are pursuing, with the Crimson Tide also involved in his recruitment.
