Erik ten Hag is “immensely proud” after FC Twente completed the signing of Wout Weghorst on a free transfer.
Weghorst has signed a two-year deal with Twente after leaving Ajax as a free agent, following two seasons with the Dutch giants.
The 33-year-old scored 18 goals in 53 Eredivisie games for Ajax, while he has 69 goals in 175 top-flight games in the Netherlands across spells with Ajax, AZ Alkmaar and Heracles.
Weghorst previously worked under Ten Hag, who is now technical director at Twente, when the latter was head coach at Manchester United.
The striker failed to score in 17 Premier League appearances during a loan spell in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign, though he did score en route to winning the EFL Cup.
“We are immensely proud that Wout Weghorst is going to play for FC Twente,” Ten Hag told the club website.
