The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a 13-day-long blackout in major parts of Delta State over its 132/33 kilovolt substation maintenance.
TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the electricity disruption started from June 4, 2026, and is expected to last through the 16th.
According to the federal government agency, the ongoing maintenance is for the connection of a bus coupler circuit breaker and the rehabilitation of five isolators on the main busbar.
As a result, Benin Electricity Distribution will not be able to supply electricity to several areas in Delta State, including Warri, Effurun, and Sapele.
“Consequently, 33kV feeders emanating from transformers at Effurun and Delta 132/33kV Transmission Substations, including Effurun, Warri, Sapele, Osubi, PTI, PMSL, Refinery I, Refinery II, and Enerhen feeders, as well as Isoko/Kwale, Otovwodo/Patani, Ughelli/Shell, Agbarho/Eku, Aladja, Imoniyame, and Beta Glass feeders, will be out of service during the maintenance period,” TCN stated.
DAILY POST reports that the outage would impact major businesses in Delta State that relied on the national grid for electricity supply.
