Taraba College of Health Tech sets up probe committee over alleged sale of computers

The management of the Taraba State College of Health Technology (TSCOHT), Takum, has constituted a five-member disciplinary committee to investigate allegations concerning the removal of computer gadgets and other equipment from the institution’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department.

The management disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Takum, following a social media report alleging that some computer equipment and other gadgets were removed from the ICT Department.

“The College Management initially considered it unnecessary to respond to the reports circulating on social media but said it was compelled to clarify the situation in the interest of transparency, accountability and public confidence,” the statement stated.

It explained that the five-member committee was constituted to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged removal of the equipment and establish the facts of the matter.

The management also disclosed that a query had been issued to Mr Emmanuel Nahum under Public Service Rule No. 3.03030, directing him to respond within 48 hours and explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him in connection with the matter.

The college stressed that the matter remains under investigation and that the process is being handled in accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Rules.

It assured that if the investigation establishes any wrongdoing, appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any officer found culpable, in line with applicable regulations.

The management urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from drawing premature conclusions while the committee conducts its assignment.

It said the findings and recommendations of the committee would guide the management in determining the appropriate next steps.
