As the Indianapolis Colts return to the practice field on Tuesday, head coach Shane Steichen provided several injury updates.
Wide receiver Alec Pierce will not be practicing on Tuesday, although Steichen did say that “hopefully” he can practice at some point this week.
Pierce remains on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, recovering from offseason ankle surgery.

They haven’t had conversations about keeping him on PUP.

Back at practice will be cornerback Charvarius Ward. He has been sidelined for about two weeks dealing with a back injury.
Also returning is running back DJ Giddens. He has missed a lot of time, working through a hamstring injury. His absence led to Seth McGowan shouldering the RB2 workload.

At the tight end position, Will Mallory is working through a thumb injury, according to Mike Chappell. The injury could keep him out of the Colts‘ season opener on Sept. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Tyler Warren, who suffered a groin injury last week, might be held out of practice this week to make sure he’s good to go for the regular season.
“We’re gonna be pretty smart with Tyler (Warren) (groin) this week,” Steichen said, via Jake Arthur.
Steichen said, “We’re gonna be pretty smart with Tyler (Warren) (groin) this week.”
Said he might be out all week, so they can have him ready for Week 1.
