It’s still very early in training camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but new head coach Mike McCarthy shared a pretty blunt assessment of the team’s progress.
“I don’t like where we are,” McCarthy said. “As far as the number of missed assignments we’ve had, they’re higher — a little higher than normal.”
While it isn’t what you want to hear from your head coach, the quote shouldn’t induce panic. There is plenty of time in camp and three preseason games to get everything right. Also, McCarthy isn’t wrong for expecting a level of consistency. Thursday is a good place to start against Green Bay.
